Description

Hayward, CA: Ken Becker. Very Good. 1973. Softcover. Stiff Card with comb binding. 9"X 11" ; 108 pages. Indexed. Mustard yellow with manila colored heavy paper pages and brown text. This is a collection of local to the area personal and family recipes but has no local information within. I have found matching titles from various areas, but none from Porterville specifically. Porterville is located in the San Joaquin, or Central Valley of California, a popular destination for many immigrants and has been designated "The Bread Basket" because the dense agriculture. Many of the recipes reflect this with use of the fruits and nuts growing in abundance. Each recipe has the contributors full name. The covers have edge tone, the former owner's name is penned neatly on the title page and I found 3 remarks indicating a personal knowledge of the contributor. A nice example of local culture. ; 8vo .
