First trade edition of this important occult work (which had been privately published in 1936). Text in German. Unmarked copy, the fragile dustwrapper is present but spine is lacking, interior pages have toning of acidic postwar paper stock.

Printed note to the contents: "The Author intended to have inserted a plan of an orchard ... but as it turned out to be inconvenient in point of size, and being of small importance, the idea was given up". Later utilitarian quarter calf, spine in six compartments with raised bands with uneven black rules, gilt lettering, sl. rubbed to head and foot; slightly marked cloth boards. All edges speckled. Apart from a little light sporadic foxing a nice crisp clean copy, firmly bound. Priced to accommodate cost of rebacking which would greatly enhance the volume.

Green cloth-covered boards, 341 pages, many illustrations from photographs. Two folding maps, one as frontispiece and one bound in with text block. Condition notes: Boards bumped and worn, with some spottiness, especially to the front board. Small split to back board/spine joint (about half an inch, at the top). Wear and fraying to extremities of spine strip. Library labels, stamps and remnants to front paste down, with library's blind stamped and subsequent withdrawal stamp to title page. Both maps in excellent condition.

London: Robert Hardwicke, 1874. A lovely copy of this first edition. green cloth with gilt titles and border to the front board. Frontis engraving of an Orchid House (complete with waterfall). Four beautifully hand coloured plates and black and white engraved vignettes and illustrations throughout. The cloth is in very nice clean condition, with just a little bumping to the top of the spine. Internally clean, but very slightly darkened. iv. 160 pages. 180 by 120mm (7 by 4¾ inches).
