The very scarce second edition of this work.A fascinating scientific treatise, focusing on the presentation and remedy on pulmonary consumption.During the nineteenth century consumption was a common illness, due to tuberculosis becoming epidemic in Europe. It was considered to be a somewhat romantic disease, it being popular amongst artists, and a high killer of young people.By John Murray, a science writer and scriptural geologist, a fellow of the Society of Antiquities and the Geological Society of London.Half-title is present.Five pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. Rebound in paper covered boards, rebacked with the original boards restored. Externally, generally smart. Some light marks and rubbing to the boards and spine. Evidence of former wear to the boards prior to rebacking. Light bumping to the extremities. Spine label is a little discoloured and chipped. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spotting. Very Good
