Rand and Avery (Boston, Massachusetts), 6 x 8 1/2 inches tall brown embossed cloth hardbound, gilt ruling to covers, gilt coat of arms to front cover, all page edges gilt, brown endpapers, frontispiece portrait, 112 pp. Moderate soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with a bit of tearing to the cloth of the front cover along the spine. Prior owner name and stamp to top margins of front pastedown and free-endpaper. 1869 signed presentation letter from the author bound in at front of volume. Light to moderate foxing to the frontispiece, title page and first few pages. Otherwise, a clean and unmarked copy. ~VVV~ A tribute to William Czar Bradley (1782 - 1867), an American lawyer and politician. He served as U.S. Representative from Vermont. Bradley was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Thirteenth Congress, serving from March 4, 1813 to March 3, 1815. Bradley was an agent of the United States under the Treaty of Ghent to fix the boundary line between Maine and Canada from 1815 to 1820. He served again in the United States Congress when he was elected as an Adams-Clay Democratic-Republican to the Eighteenth Congress and as an Adams to the Nineteenth Congress, serving from March 4, 1823 to March 3, 1827. He served as presidential elector on the Republican ticket in 1856, and cast his vote for John C. Fremont, the first presidential candidate of the Republican Party.
