W & R Chambers, 1909 1909. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG--. GROOME, W H C. 13.5 x 19 cm red cloth with gilt and colour decoration and gilt stamped titles to the front and spine. Brown coated endpapers, [viii]318[2]pp with 6 colour illustrations by W H C Groome. There is slight rubbing to the corners and spine tips with a small split in the cloth at both the head and foot of less than 0.5 cm. There is some loss of shine on the red colour to the front and to a greater extent the back cover. Internally there is a prize label on the front free endpaper and quite a lot of spotting and marking throughout the book. All in all a very good complete copy of this hard to find early juvenile, martian, space, adventure.
