(9 x 6.7 inches).16 colour plates, each with a printed tissue paper guard, by Charles Brock (4 scenes from the story), and Charles Brittain (12 views of Exmoor and environs). A Fine copy in a fine leather binding by Bain of London. Half dark blue morocco, spine with raised bands, ruled in gilt. Compartments tooled and lettered in gilt. Blue cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Loosely inserted is a hand written letter from J. G. Bain, on company headed notepaper dated Christmas 1925, presenting this book to a customer. An interesting and beautiful edition with the plates showing not just characters from the tale but also views of the towns, villages and views around Exmoor that act as a backdrop for the novel.:

Illustrated with 2 half tone frontispieces, 98 full page mono plates plus 138 smaller vignettes and grotesque heads throughout the text. Neat previous owners bookplate on the front blank endpapers and neat presentation inscription on blank leaf opposite. A fine set in highly attractive mid twentieth century leather bindings by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Finely bound in half dark blue morocco. Spines with raised bands, decorated with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Blue cloth on boards. Top edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. A fine set of this wonderfully illustrated edition. The books are undated but Geofrey Beare's bibliography of W. Heath Robinson dates this edition to 1913 and is a smaller version of the magnificent large format 1904 Grant Richards edition. (Beare #35c).

Beautifully illustrated with colour frontis, protected by a printed tissue guard, and 6 full colour tipped in plates, plus 98 line drawings and decorative borders throughout. Finely bound in early half red morocco leather binding by Bayntun (Riviere) of Bath. Spine with five raised bands, the compartments ruled in blind and lettered and decorated in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. There is a mild stain to the leather at the bottom of the book but overall this is a very attractive copy of this finely illustrated book.

Beautifully illustrated with 8 full colour plates and 95 listed line drawings in the text, many full page, plus a few small vignettes, not in the list of illustrations. Finely bound in recent full dark green Morocco leather binding. Spine with five raised bands. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Single gilt ruled line border on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Original illustrated front board and spine bound in. Some offsetting to the half title and the last text page but generally a very good clean and bright copy throughout in an attractive leather binding.

T. N. Foulis. London. 1913. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.5 x 5.6 inches). Twelve full colour tipped-in plates, each mounted onto beige laid paper with a printed border and title. The colour illustrations, from Yeats' original oil paintings, include; The Farmer, Publican, Exile from Erin, Police Sergeant, Priest and Country shop assistants. Each plate with a tissue guard. Aside from just a few spots of very light foxing to a handful of of pages this is a very good and bright copy. Finely bound in recent full dark green morocco leather binding. Spine with five raised bands. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed.

Eveleigh Nash & Grayson Limited. London. 1923. Large 8vo. (9.6 x 6.6 inches). Colour frontis and fifteen mono plates by Worth Brehm. A few spots of foxing to the fore edge otherwise a very good clean copy throughout, finely bound in recent half dark green morocco, raised bands, the compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. An attractively leather bound copy of this classic of American literature.

Finely bound recent half dark brown morocco leather binding. Spine with raised bands, the compartments ruled in blind and gilt, plus gilt lettering and centre decorations. Marbled paper on boards. A clean and attractively bound copy.

J. B. Lippincott Co. Philadelphia. 1914. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Large 8vo. (8.8 x 7 inches). Illustrated with 8 beautiful full page colour plates, each with a printed tissue guard, 104 line drawings throughout the text, plus illustrated endpapers at the front and back, all by Charles Robinson. Small bookseller label to the bottom of the front free endpaper. A fine and spotless copy of the book in publishers dark green cloth binding with gilt illustrations and lettering to the front board and spine. In the rare original illustrated dustwrapper, printed in red and green on beige paper. The red ink on the spine is faded and there are a couple of very small chips but overall this is a very smart example of the wrapper on a truly fine book. This first American edition uses sheets from the English edition, prnited by Ballantyne and Company in London. An uncommon survivor in such lovely condition.

(5.5 x 3.6 inches).36pp. Fold out plate opposite title page with full page frontispiece and six half page woodcuts, all finely hand coloured, and one small woodcut of the goat on the title page. Neat inscription, dated 1843, to the title page. Printed light pink card wrapper with black lettering, lattice design and decorative border on both panels. Dark green inner paper printed with publishers adverts, including this title, advertised at six shillings. A little creasing to the corners and th covers a little dusty but overall a very good bright example of this rare little book. ---- The BL catalogue gives an estimated date of 1820. --- Dean and Munday were located at this address from 1808 to 1847. - Brown, P.A.H.
