by Kerouac, Jack
- Used

Description:
[No place: no publisher], 1960. Unbound. Near Fine. A collection of 25 decorative title cards for a range of motion pictures released between 1952 -1960. Each measures approximately 14" x 11". There is some wear to the extremities, a few scattered creases, and a bit of rubbing, but overall near fine with surprisingly bright colors. Each card has been screenprinted on the verso of a large movie poster that was cut into sections to match the dimensions of a typical lobby card. Movie theaters would occasionally commission local sign makers to produce lobby cards for display. The production symbols on many of the cards indicate they were created in the same years as the films they represent. Among the most notable titles in the collection are: *From Here to Eternity*, *Shane*, *Duel in the Sun*, *Stalag 17*, and *Gidget*. An attractive set of mid-century film memorabilia. A complete list is available upon request.

Description:
Lithographer: Donaldson Brothers for the Arbuckle Brothers Coffee Co.c. 18893" x 5" Chromolithograph. Minor closed tear to left margin, else v. good.
A colourful card showing the map of "Indian Territory" (Oklahoma) with vignette of natives hunting buffalo and a decorative arrow case. Area indicates different tribes such as the Choctaws, Chicasaws, Wachitas, Seminoles and Cherokees.
The Arbuckle Brothers Coffee Company was founded in Pittsburgh, PA by brothers Charles and John Arbuckle. Pioneering a method of roasting and "sealing" the coffee beans with egg whites, which ensured the longer shelf life, their product met with immediate success. As a promotional gimmick they began to include chromolithographed "trade" cards in their one pound bags with themes of sports, food, historic scenes and the most sought after of the series- maps. The advertising ploy proved to be hugely popular and by 1915 another series was issued showing updated populations and newly built roads and railroads.

Rare Maynard Workshop Postcard of the New Old South Tower Copley Square Boston Massachusetts "THE CITY" POST CARDS is on a title block in the middle of blank back. There is a divided rule in the middle - one side for your message, another for the recipient's address. On the bottom is the tagline "FROM PHOTOGRAMS COPYRIGHTED BY THE MAYNARD WORKSHOP - WABAN - MASSACHUSETTS" The bottom left of the image has a very light c circled (the copyright symbol), beneath that is what appears to be "F and K" with a wavy line underneath with a small mark or dot under that. The card is unused, unstamped, undated. If you are a collector of Maynard Workshop cards, you know that they are hard to date. This card is circa 1920's or early 1930's. The image is of the Old New South Church. The original church was built in 1670, the second "version" in 1720, and the version in this postcard in built in 1873, which explains the "new." The church is…
