Maroon cloth, half pebbled, half smooth, ruled in gilt with device on front cover stamped in gilt. Titles on spine boxed and ruled with decoration stamped in gilt. Illustrated with pictures and numerous maps, three of which are fold-outs, frontispiece portrait of Grant with tissue guard, 473 pages with 4 pages of ads. Clean, unmarked copy with soild binding, seldom found in this condition.
