The gray boards are very clean with very minor edge wear. a crease in the spine enad just a bit of a lean. Inside there has been reinforcement fo the endpages and a bit of wrinkling on the ffep. There is a white tape covering what was probably a library stamp not affecting any print. The text is clean and tight. The unclipped DJ shows very minor wear at the edges, corners and spine ends. It has a **SIGNED, INSCRIBED & DATED** note tipped in: Dear Bizz, with love Betty Smith June 1960 Chapel Hill N. Car Condition: A VeryGood/Good copy and a true FIRST printing. The interior has browning on the end pages and inside boards. The DJ shows the $2.75 price and has chips, tears and minor missing fragments that affect only the title at the top of the spine. The DJ was split at the spine and it appears the DJ has been trimmed. A VG+/VG copy of this rare first made even more so by having a splendid **HANDWRITTEN SIGNED LETTER** by Mr. Wilder. The HB is very clean and tight with just some browning on the end pages. The unclipped DJ has a small piece missing from the upper spine end, not affecting the title. There are a few tiny other chips now in mylar and protected. A very strong copy and a wonderful combo! The deep blue boards with white lettering and illustrations have the merest of wear at the corners and spine ends. Inside the book there is only a very faint inscription at the top of the map page. The unclipped DJ shows a price of $ 3.95 crossed out and penned $ 3.19. I think this is a second state DJ with 5 brief reviews on the rear cover. There is some loss of color along the right edge of the front, some dirt on the rear and chips of color loss but overall a GOOD bright DJ!
