Very good green pebbled cloth hardcover, Publisher's binding: slightly browning spine decoratively titled in gilt with three Danube fish in gilt, four gilt scallops, and floral/seaweed gilt decor., green paper boards flecked with yellow, pictorially stamped in dark green on top board, illustrated endpapers, very slight wrinkle at back page; top-edge stained in no dust jacket. First U.S. ed. first printing. Spine and corners and binding excellent. No reader's marks except paste-down bookplate by G C NOBLE (1905) of bay window reading seat and "A Book of Bertha Brown and Robert Kendall SHAW." 15 beautiful tipped-in colour plates plus chapter head & tail decorations. Blue cloth, gilt titles and vignette to front cover. Green and white pictorial endpapers and decorated title page. 136 pages. 10 x 7.5". Book: all plates present. Contents very good.
