Original dark green cloth with blind decorations and lettering to the front board and decorations blind stamped and gold gilt lettering stamped to the spine. Lower edge of the text block untrimmed. Bumping to the corners and the head and tail of the spine. Fading to the spine. Top edge of text block darkened by dust. A few minor spots of abrasion to the cloth on both boards. Some wear to the spine has been professionally restored. With Larry McMurtry's bookplate on the front pastedown. Inscribed by Wells on the title page. Internally clean and binding tight. Overall, a well preserved association copy that has also been inscribed by Wells. Wells Society 70; Wells Bibliography 68. This story was first printed serially in The International Review (March-June 1919) and is saturated with ideas of educational reform and the teaching of world history. A wonderful association copy with McMurtry's book plate and the inscription from Wells to a "Mrs. R. D. B.". 1919
