A beautiful illustrated edition of Thomas Nashe's sixteenth century novel in the original dust wrapper. Illustrated edition of The Unfortunate Traveller or The Life of Jacke Wilton by Thomas Nashe in the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Originally published in 1594, the novel is set during the reign of Henry VIII of England and is described as a picturesque novel of prose fiction by the Elizabethan satirist and poet. The first thus of this edition illustrated by Michael Ayrton, with fifteen monochrome plates. Collated, complete.  In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. There is some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The dust wrapper is worn with a large closed tear to the rear board, some slight loss to the tail of the spine, and some small tears and creases to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some light age toning. Near Fine
