London: J. Cooke, 1795. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Undated, but inscription to front end paper dated 1795. The sub-title continues "Containing a course of interesting original letters on the most important, instructive and entertaining subjects, which may serve as copies for inditing letters on the various occurrences in life".... etc. Bound in brown leather, no title visible, loss at spine head, and tears at spine foot, scratched and rubbed to boards and spine. Hinge and text-block in tact. Pages age-toned but remarkably clear of foxing. Very nice frontispiece with the words "In Silent words, Minerva Aids the Youth In Trade - on love, to polish every truth; while friendship joins and shows the road to fame, to moral virtue and a guiltless flame" - A worn but good copy of a scarce first edition.`
