About This Item

UCT. Cape Town 1993.. Bookplate title page. spine and front board fading, hence a VG++ unread copy in clear secured protective wrap.. Printed blue boards. 482pp illustrated b/w. 4to. Formerly the South African College, this passed into a fully fledged university in its own right in 1918. The period between the two world wars saw it commit itself to a broad "South Africanism". With a 99% white student and governing body this commitment shrank, but it did see transformation from a purely teaching institution to a fully fledged university within this period.
