When the local parish priests grow concerned with the declining moral standards of the village, the church must act. Written by George Moore, an Irish poet, art critic, dramatist, novelist and short story writer. Influenced by the works of Emile Zola, he absorbed lessons from the French realists. It is said that his writings influenced James Joyce. Previously owned by Sir William Eden Bart, a British politician whose son, Anthony Eden, served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Rebound in half brown calf with red cloth boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and the odd mark to the board. Joint starting slightly at the head of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with scattered spotting to the endpapers. Very Good
