Indeed the book could otherwise have been described as "near fine." Dustjacket designed by Biro. was Catherine Dickens a stupid and unimaginative woman? Most biographers appear to have thought so and in presenting her as a week and the personality they have explained, if not excused, her husband's scandalous treatment of her.
