Description

London: Cassell & Company, Limited, 1939. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 8" by 5.5". None. A scarce first edition of this thrilling novel of village life and gossip from Kaye-Smith. First edition. Scarce work. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. A humorous work retelling the lives of many village-folk in a rapidly modernising village in Sussex during the summer that Mrs. Reddinger refused to divorce her husband. Written by Sheila Kaye-Smith, an English writer known for her novels set in Sussex and Kent in the English regional tradition. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with the odd mark to the board. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light shelf wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Light loss to the head of the spine has been sympathetically repaired with paper and pen. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting predominantly to the first and last few pages. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good Indeed
