First edition. "The Value of Laughter" by Virginia Stephen (Woolf) was originally published on 16 August 1905 in The Guardian. Leslie Kathleen Hankins is a professor at Cornell College, Iowa, and a book artist. She is a former president of the International Virginia Woolf Society and has been presenting and publishing on Virginia Woolf  for several decades. In 2012, Hankins founded a press of her own, Making Waves Press.
