New York: H. Holt and Company, [c1931]. good. 23 cm, 297, illus., boards faded and somewhat worn and soiled, perforation and stamp on title page, pencil erasure on front endpaper. The author arrived in Tasmania in the mid-1920's, and stayed for five years. This history involved Port Arthur (the penal center) and its inmates, the convicts of Van Dieman's Land. Villiers also covered whaling, and the English girls who sailed to find matrimony.
