About This Item
Chicago: Markus & Kalheim, 1889. Hardcover. No Jacket. Norwegian language. Bound in printed boards backed with black cloth. 1889 date to the front cover and title page; no additional printings. 44 pages. Ex-library from Gale College, with the later bookplate of Norwegian-American collector Herman Gimmestad, whose father, Lars, had been president and professor at Gale during his career. Remainder of small sticker to the front cover, library stamps to the front free endpaper and the last page of the text, call numbers inked neatly to the title page. The bookplate is present on the front pastedown. The boards show moderate edgewear with a 2" crease near the lower edge of the front cover. Hinges solid; binding square. Contents only faintly toned, with no foxing. Clean and tight. Benson was an immigrant Norwegian poet; his works are now quite scarce, as are the publications of Markus & Kalheim. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall
