Mounted photograph, images measures 5 inches by 7 inches on card stock measuring 8 ½ inches by 10 ½ inches. Grigory Ivanovich Raev (1863-1957) was a photographer and avid climber based in the Caucasus who made use of the ample beauty, wildness and history of his surroundings. "He took many pictures of the famous roads of the Caucasus - the Georgian Military Road, the Military Sukhumi Road and the Ossetian Military Road. Grigory Ivanovich Raev traveled all over the Caucasus and even climbed Mount Elbrus." - Andrey Gordienko. In this photo Raev captures the fortress and cathedral village of Ananuri, the castle complex of the Aragvi feudal dynasty. This site is on the tentative list for inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Site program.
