Number 367 of 500 printed on Verge Ingres de Lana. 8vo. 252x162mm. pp. Vol. I: xxxii, 132; Vol. II: [ii], 146, [ii]. Red half morocco, beige linen covered boards. Spine decorated in gilt, green morocco label in second compartment lettered in gilt. A simple, handsome binding in excellent condition. Internally fine. Edited and annotated by Gilbert Rouger. Illustrated by Gaston Barret with twelve full page engravings and headpieces in the text. These charming illustrations capture perfectly the atmosphere of Restif's novel of idyllic rural life on the eve of the French Revolution.
