A history of Vienna, to 1914 – though there is a chapter dedicated to events past that date. The author teases the truth out of legend about this city. She goes into the city's beginning – as a frontier fortress and melting pot, its social and cultural background and prominence, political occurrences – both local and foreign and other things besides. Rubbing and softening of the back strip edges with rubbing of the lower book edges. A slight reverse cock of the spine. Age toning of the text block edges and pages with original bookseller's sticker to the lower right hand corner of the front paste-down. Chipping to the top dustwrapper corners and top back strip edge. Creasing to the lower dustwrapper edge with sunning of the back strip.
