Accompanying book is viii, 118 p. 2 b&w portraits and 26 unbound colour plates, plus one map. Reprint limited to 350 copies of which this is 59. Book: 8vo. Unbound text and plates in red leather and paper slipcase with gold and blank impressing. A little wear to case. Originally published by Thomas McLean, London, 1852. Introductory text in Portuguese with enclosed book in English. Ouseley was a British diplomat in South America who became renowned as an artist. His romantic views portray solitary pines, ruined chapels, grottos on the shore, rickety bridges over waterfalls, and cemeteries.
