Rare vintage 1882 printing with elaborate decorative imprint in bright gilt & black ink on cover and spine, 392 pp. Upper two inches of front hinge split, inside hinge cracked; cloth on back outside hinge partially split, hinge intact; board edges and spine ends rubbed; binding intact with stitching partly visible in spots; interior unmarked, lightly and evenly toned. Full of stunning lithograph line illustrations along with reproductions of notes and letters from poets and figures such as Oliver Wendell Holmes.
