About This Item
London: Arthur Pearson. London, Arthur Pearson, 1898. Limited Edition. Presentation copy. Inscribed by the author to the publisher. Front free endpaper bears Pearson's inscription, locating it in his library. Half-title bears the author's inscription 'Cyril Arthur Pearson \ from \ George Griffith \ 1898'. Vellum-bound unlike the regular cloth issue. Condition is very good; vellum rubbed and a touch soiled though gilt remains bright, some soiling. Front hinge pulled with webbing showing. Plate, tissueguard and title page a touch foxed. Bleiler has it as Supernatural / Raising the Dead [Bleiler, p87], though Locke disagrees noting the absence of text indicating such a them. Locke has it as a straight-forward historical adventure, albeit for a mythical place - the author's first 'serious' work [Locke, p98, vol I]. [5976, Hyraxia Books]. . Very Good. Hardback. Limited Edition. 1898.
