Coventry: George G. Harrap (Cheylesmore Presse), n.d.[1916]. Translated by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-82) from the Italian [1861], (brother of Christina, 1830-94). Illustrated by Evelyn Paul (1883-1963): colored half and title pages, 8 color plates, 8 tipped-in color illustrations, multiple text illustrations (some 1-3 colors), vignettes and first letter illuminations. Music "ditty" by Alfred Mercer pp. 38-42. First thus edition. c.1295 First book of verse. Original decorated green cloth in gilt and dark green and color decorated endpapers, untrimmed edges, teg lightly cleaned in-house by our binder KTB. 4to. pp. 161, [7]. Very Good/No jacket, as issued/Ex-Lib: Mortimer Rare Book Room, Smith College ticket to rear ep. Ink owner ffep Marie Gilchrist (Christmas 1916) and Library Presentation Book Plate front pastedown from the same. In addition to library plate, there is one perforated stamp to title page bottom and pen numbers to pp. 5 margin. Worn cover at caps and corners, spine gilt faded; tight copy internally near fine save the library markings mentioned. Five Part Sonnet dedicated to Beatrice and published five years after her death in 1290. VIT117629..
