About This Item
London: John Lehmann, 1950. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 8" by 5.5". None. A smart copy of this autobiographical novel from British writer and painter Denton Welch. First edition. Scarce novel. An autobiographical novel, describing the author's bicycle accident when he was an art student, and subsequent experiences in hospital wards and a nursing home. He became a writer after realising the long-term effects on his health of his accident. Written by Maurice Denton Welch, a British writer and painter admired for his vivid prose and precise descriptions. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor fading to the spine and the odd small mark. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities resulting in minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. Sunning to the spine and panel edges. The odd small closed tear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good Indeed
