About This Item
New York: Random House, 1992. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Considered a modern erotic classic, Baker's third novel is the story of a man and woman connecting on an adult party line. Each liking what they hear from the other, they switch to a private line to continue sharing their sexual histories and fantasies. First edition stated; first printing (complete numberline ending in 2, as per Random House tradition). About 5 1/2 x 8 inches, 165 pages in black cloth-covered boards with silver lettering on spine and author's initials in silver between two vertical silver lines near top edge of front cover. The black dustjacket's front panel shows a graphic design in which "a novel by nicholson baker," in pink and yellow runs vertically from top edge to lower right corner. "Vox" in large grey letters is superimposed over a large glossy letter "x." Dj's back panel contains seven blurbs praising earlier Baker books. Boards show just a touch of wear at spine ends, o/w boards and text are complete, clean and unmarked, tight and square, without visible damage or flaws. Not ex-library, not remaindered. DJ shows minimal wear on edges, corners and spine ends, o/w no tears, creasing or scratching, not price-clipped. A collectable copy.
