Toronto: The Radisson Society of Canada, 1925. First Edition Thus. 8vo. 329pp. Frontispiece; illustrations. Red cloth with gilt lettering in red dustjacket with black lettering. A near fine copy (small owner name) in near fine dustjacket (spine fading; minor wear to extremities; two short closed tears). This journey was taken in 1846-47 for the purpose of painting a series of scenes and Indian life in the North-West Territories of Canada and the United States. "... one of the most authentic source books used in the study of the Western Indians, and is considered a treasure by discriminating readers of early travel books on the primitive regions of America." - front cover. Contains a 50pp. introduction by L.J. Burpee on Kane's life and includes a catalogue of his paintings with descriptive notes. (Graff 2262; Howes 5556; Wagner-Camp 332).
