Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1961. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 263 p. "An informal history of the part played by the western states in the Civil War." Inscribed and dated by Lewis on the half-title. From the James S. Copley Library, with the San Diego newspaper publisher and philanthropist's bookplate to the front pastedown. Original tan cloth binding, with blue titles. Internally crisp and clean. Small bookseller's label to the rear pastedown, with a few small, unobtrusive bits of tape from an old dust jacket protector to the pastedowns and the verso of the dust jacket. Some mild rubbing to the dust jacket, which is price-clipped; otherwise very good. Inscribed by Author.
