Cape, 1947. 1st edition. Hardcover. Excellent blue cloth, silver spine lettering, binding tight, blue wash top, pages and endpapers very clean indeed. In the original, unclipped cream dustjacket, a little rubbed and browned, small nicks and chafing at spine ends. Scarce first impression of the Marchesa Origo's classic account of wartime life on her estate in Tuscany in 1943-44.
