About This Item
Philadelphia: Joseph McDowell, 1831. Paperback. Fair. 34, [2] p.: woodcut illustrations; 20 cm. Front wrapper included in pagination. Greek key border on front and back wrapper. Publisher's advertisement on back wrapper verso. Front wrapper verso contains list of "Remarkable Events" pertaining to American history, primarily the American Revolution. Events of the War of 1812 are listed on p. 3. In addition to the almanac material, contains James K. Paulding's satirical "The History of Uncle Sam and His Boys." The illustrations include two half-page woodcuts, one of Rochester Falls on the Genesee River and the other of the Loxley House, on 2nd Street in Philadelphia. Original owner strengthened spine with a strip of paper and stitched a cloth loop at head of spine to form loop for hanging. In Fair Condition: foxing and staining throughout; corners creased; lacking lower corner of p. 33-34 and back wrapper, with minor loss of text on p. 33.
