Description

Allen & Unwin, London, 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Size: 8vo - over 7.75 - 9.75" tall. 262 pp. Binding firm. Chips to top of spine. Slight foxing to front/rear pages, but body of book mostly clean and unfoxed. Previous owner's name ink-stamped. Edges foxed and browned. Covers slightly marked. Corners slightly bumped. Chip to top of rear board. Previous owner's pencil inscription to facing title reads, "Given to me by Stephen Tennant 8th Jan 35 after a day at Wilsford from Babington." This is followed by a signature which it appears may be that of Syrie Maugham. Maugham redecorated Wilsford for Tennant. Whilst the signature here could be read as Maugham it is not an exact resemblance of the only other example of her signature I could find online. Nevertheless a scarce title with an interesting history, and once owned by Stephen Tennant. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilogram. Category: Philosophy; China; Religion & Theology. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 23670. .
