Description

New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1929. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. First edition. Preface by Aleš Hrdli?ka. Illustrated in black and white and with a color frontispiece tipped in. Front fly removed resulting in a large abrasion on front pastedown, spine slightly cocked, about very good in a slightly soiled good only dust jacket with a large chipped tear to the top of the rear panel and several other chips and tears. Sixty-three paintings "giving a symbolic Analysis of Life and Human Emotions" first exhibited at the Smithsonian in 1926, reproduced here and paired with verses from St. Augustine, Wordsworth, Milton, Byron, Pope, Voltaire and more.
