Interspresed with Stirring Incidents of Life in Camp and Hospital, and Many Important Events Hallowed by Associations with the Gallant Dead. New York: E.B. Treat, 1867. 601, [1] pp., frontis., plates. Orig. pictorial cloth. Only minor rubbing to the extremities. A small chip to the fore-edge of the front free endpaper as well as a few of the preliminary leaves with very short closed tears to the fore-edge margin, nevertheless, a clean, solid copy in very good or better condition. Howes C-735. In Taller Cotton 45. Nevins describes this as "Cooke's most famous volume and the closest thing to an autobiography of his war career; much information on Jackson, Stuart, and other Confederate leaders" Nevins I, p. 74.
