Along with Arthur C. Clarke's novel, The Fountains of Paradise, The Web Between the Worlds is one of the first popularisation of the space elevator. Second novel by Charles Sheffield, it deals with Rob Merlin and his incredibly strong machine the 'Spider' as he uncovers the truth about his parents' deaths. The uncommon first UK edition, published the year following the true first US edition, which was issued in paperback; the present edition is the first hardback edition. Complete with the original unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely. The dust wrapper is unclipped and excellent with minor shelf wear only.
