Description

Berlin: Wilhelm Hertz, 1891. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Poor. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brown cloth boards with full cover decorations on front and spine. The book has issues but is complete and in one piece. The exterior cloth is split at the upper left of the front board's hinge by almost an inch and half and on the lower right of the rear board by almost 3 inches. There is also a horizontal crack on the spine cloth as seen in the photos. The front internal hinge has a thin cracked with one larger open area in the same is true for the rear boards inner hinge. The rear end page also has a small folded over tear along the top edge. The half title page contains in 1891 Christmas gift inscription, which is the only handwriting found in the book. There are no library markings or bookplates present. The biggest problem, which is why this book was graded as poor and not fair is there is a small section of pages near the center that are slightly offset. This issue appears to be from page 161 two 176 and you can see they extend a bit on both the exterior top page edge as well as the long edge. The rest of the page bindings of fine and pages are secure. That quadrant of pages may need to be removed and reset so they align correctly, or you could just leave it as is. Pages are toned due to age and there is some scattered spotting and foxing present.

The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online. All of the book pictures were taken at the time the book was listed and we never use generic or stock photos in any listing. If you would like additional photos or information on any listing please let us know and we will be more than happy to comply.

Terms of Sale:

Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.

We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.

Yesterday's Book shop is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. Due to my limitations, I often have to rely on speech-to-text software to list the books. If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. The software spells words by phonetics and can make errors that I may not catch.
