About This Item
London, Collins, 1960. . First edition, first impression; 8vo; map endpapers; publisher's blue cloth lettered in silver to spine, dust-jacket, with artwork by George Adamson and photographic portrait of the author, rubbed at fore-corners, a few closed tears and some chipping around spine ends, but overall very good.
The first edition of the author's first novel, the first in a trilogy that was not completed until 2012. The book was popular and critically well-received upon its publication, though the author himself came to look less favourably on it as time went on; many authors of children's fantasy fiction today consider The Weirdstone of Brisingamen one of the key works in the genre. Rare in the original dust-jacket.
