He spent his early exile years in the United States, becoming a key figure in the Black Arts movement and forming lifelong bonds with several of it poets. Among his closest friends was Gwendolyn Brooks. This is a presentation copy, inscribed and signed with his nickname: "For Gwen, My sister here are some murmurings, some screams too.
