London: Blackie and Son, 1895. 12mo, 388pp + 32 advts. Blue boards pictorially stamped in gilt, orange, black and white; all edges burnished olive green. Gray endpapers; 12 half-tone plates. Spine ends and corners lightly rubbed, a few pages very slightly foxed at edges, else a clean, tight copy.
First edition. Henty's tale of a young English teen living through the Plague, the Great London fire and the on-again-off-again war with the Dutch. The late-nineteenth century pictorial binding is especially eye-catching.
