About This Item
First edition, third printing. No dust jacket, but still a lovely copy of one of the best and most influential books of the late twentieth century.
An unfortunate but, considering the content, appropriate coffee stain on the back board. Probably easily cleanable.
An excellent gift for a college graduate, book-ish type person, or anyone who cares about why first editions matter.
Synopsis
Don DeLillo is an American author, playwright, and essayist. His novel, White Noise won the National Book Award in 1985. The book is essentially about America’s fear of death, but touches upon almost every essence of modern culture as well. It tells the life story of Jack Gladney, a professor of Hitler studies at a small college. He and his wife have four children from previous marriages and live with an excessive amount of fear, especially of their own demise. Jack's fear of technology turns out to be justified when a toxic chemical cloud is released in the area and he is terminally poisoned. The book is an unforgettable experience and an adventurous exploration into American culture.
