Warne,, [1968]. 8vo., First Edition thus, with coloured and monochrome plates, numerous illustrations in the text and pictorial endpapers; original series binding of green faux-morocco cloth, upper board and backstrip blocked and lettered in gilt, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. The successor to 'Step's' Animal Life (1921), and effectively a new book substantially extended and rewritten by Burton in 1960. This is the first appearance of the work in the larger 'Reference' format. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Marren, pp. 154-156.
