Gift note on half-title page only mark. Illustrated endpapers. 181 pages with great color and b/w illustrations throughout. Twelve original horse stories by a cowboy who lived every one of them. Stories have info on how to break, brand, and train horses for work on the range. The heroes are the horse: the colt Baden who fought Diablo the herd leader; Red Cloud, who got even with the thief who branded him; Major who escaped from a mining camp and led his mule back all the way back to Colorado; and many others..
