Frontispiece hand-colored plate; half-title hand-colored plate. xvi, 359 pp. Illustrated with 26 hand-colored lithographic plates. Fold-out lithographic map in rear with route marked in red. Modern 3/4 red morocco binding with five raised spinal bands. Top edge gilt. This is regarded as the first book to deal with big game hunting and is accredited with popularizing the sport -- an essential work for any deep collection on African hunting. Area of fading on the front red cloth, a very light top damp stain on the top of the half-title, title and dedication pages (not affecting text), very light scattered foxing, map fine, else a tight, very good plus book. Scarce.. 4th Edition. Hardcover. Very Good.
