This collection was part of large and very beutiful group of Italian illuminations collected by French gallery owner, art dealer and art historian Georges Wildenstein (1892-1963). Preface by Bernard Berenson. 28 plates in color and 17 half-tone figures reveal the beauty of the works, while the text explain their importance in the development of Lombard book-illuminations. Included an essay on historical development, meticulous descriptions of 28 illuminations, indexes of artists, of manuscripts, incunabuli, illuminations, inconographical and subject index.
