About This Item
Grossnet & Dunlap, c. 1922.. Very good condition. . Binding: Full contemporary publisher’s cloth with decorative tooled title on the upper board. Flat spine with title on blue label, Notes: Donn Byrne (1889-1928) was an Irish novelist. He was born in New York City where, he claimed, his Irish parents were on a business trip at the time, and soon after returned with them to Ireland. He grew up being equally fluent in Irish and English, growing up in an area where some Irish was still spoken.
Byrne’s later novels, such as The Wind Bloweth, invited comparison with Irish novelist George Moore, especially in their romance and historical themes. Byrne’s style was firmly of the neo-Romantic view of the mythical and pastoral beauty of Irish history.
