About This Item

Boston: Dana Estes & Company. Very Good. N.D.. Hardcover. Beautifully illustrated with 12 color plates by Ernest Haslehust; the descriptive text is provided by Edward Thomas and covers, the history, construction, neighborhood, etc. of this royal castle which was first constructed shortly after the Battle of Hastings by William "the Conqueror." Original gray cloth publisher's covers with green spine and cover lettering; there is a bright pictorial pastedown of the castle on the front cover. The book is undated, but ther eis a previous owner's name on the front end paper dated 1910, so it was likely published at about that time. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings (except the aforementioned owner name & date). It is a very nice copy with one tip showing and a bit of dampstaining to the bottom edge of the cover at the spine and also to the spine, but it is not particularly noticeable. ; Beautiful England Series; Color Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 56 pages .
