Effingham Wilson & Charles Tilt. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Good ; No jackets. 1836 - 1842. Effingham Wilson & Charles Tilt (Vols 1 - 2), Tilt and Bogue (Vol 3). First edition complete set, published in 1836, 1838, and 1842 respectively. Hardcovers half bound in green leather with gold borders over yellow and blue marbled boards. Five raised bands on spines with gilt ruled borders and lettering in two panels. Matching marbled endpapers and page edges. Tissued steel engraved plates by B. Winkles & H. Winkles. Architectural plan drawings by Robert Garland. Descriptions by Thomas Moule. Text block bindings are tight. Front hinges of all three volumes are cracked but intact and attached. Corners and spine edges are rubbed, with boards exposed at tips of corners. Covers have light surface wear with occasional small stains and smudges and light peripheral discoloration. Volume 3 is missing a one-half by two-inch chip from the lower spine above the tail. Spines faded to brown. Tissues over plates are tanned. Top page edges darkened. Imprinted bookplate on front endpaper of each; name on first blank page of each. Pages and plates have sporadic foxing, mostly toward the edges, less in vol. I. Each vol. has added Title Page with cathedral engraving. xx + 144 pages; Vol II: viii + 140 pages; Vol III: xii + 160 pages; with 181 plates total. Vols 1-2 printed by Coe, Printer, Old Change Street, St. Paul's, London. Vol. 3 printed by B. Clarke, Printer, Silver Street, Falcon Square, London. No dust jackets. Spine titles: Winkles' Cathedral Churches. Carefully packed, shipped in a box. This item will be shipped with signature confirmation required.
