This is a handsome, fine binding boxed set of four children's classics by A.A. Milne. The books are beautifully bound in leather by "Bayntun" in Bath, England and feature bright gilt lettering and illustrations on the front covers and spines, decorative end papers, bright gilt on all page edges, decorative gilt borders on the inside covers, and raised bands on the spine. All books were published in 1950 by Methuen & Co. in London and contain illustrations by E.H. Shepard.

* The House at Pooh Corner
* When We Were Very Young
* Now We Are Six
Condition:
Tiny, dark stain spot on the front cover of Now We Are Six; the back cover of When We Were Very Young has some scratching; Winnie the Pooh and When We Were Very Young have some light wear along the edges of the spines; House at Pooh Corner has a few small stain spots on the spine; bright gilt lettering and illustrations on the front covers and spines of all volumes. All volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. The tissue paper over the frontispiece in When We Were Very Young is torn at the outer edge. The interiors are in nice condition with only some occasional small stains and light ink smudges in When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six. Bright gilt on all page edges. The storage box has a couple stray pencil lines on one panel; one corner at the opening is dinged; some wear along the edges. Overall the set is in very good condition.

"The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of his own life written by Benjamin Franklin from 1771 to 1790; however, Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although it had a tortuous publication history after Franklin's death, this work has become one of the most famous and influential examples of an autobiography ever written. Franklin's account of his life is divided into four parts, reflecting the different periods at which he wrote them.

Her husband Joseph Morrell Dodge had a long and distinguished career and tried to help reform Europe but later wound up as financial advisor to Douglas MacArthur in the economic revitalization of Japan. This edition is in very good condition internally. Photos of Ikebana arrangements by the famous Japan Ikebana master. A gift given to Julia Jeffers Dodge and placed in her library. 38 single sided (double page but other side blank) on high quality Japan paper with photo examples of Ikebana, black and white. A rare publication.
